What is Regulated Medical Waste (RMW)?

Medical waste may also be referred to as infectious waste, biohazardous waste, or red bag waste. It includes, but is not limited to infectious materials that are saturated with blood (such as bandages, gauze or PPE), contaminated sharps, pathological waste, and trace chemotherapy waste. These items should be disposed of safely in red biohazard bags and marked hazardous waste containers.
