Any facility, large or small, that produces any amount of medical waste in Michigan is required to register with the state of Michigan. Michigan Law requires medical waste to be removed every 90 days or less. Medical Waste includes sharps, biohazard, blood saturated items, and biological hazards. Medical waste is also known as infectious waste or biomedical waste. The states of Indiana and Ohio currently do not have strict timelines on when medical waste needs to be picked up.
